Retail Store Cleaning 

In retail the floor is part of the product presentation. A customer forms an impression walking in, and a scuffed entrance or a dull sales floor undercuts everything on the shelves above it. That makes retail cleaning a presentation problem as much as a hygiene one. Entrances take the worst of it, particularly here. From November through March every customer brings in salt and wet slush, and it does not stop at the mat. Salt is abrasive, it holds moisture, and it will dull a hard floor finish and grind into carpet backing over a single winter if it is allowed to build. Entrance matting reduces it and does not solve it. Tighter entrance attention through the winter months is the difference between a floor that lasts and one that needs refinishing early. Sales floors need consistency more than intensity. Regular cleaning to the same standard keeps a floor looking maintained; sporadic deep cleaning between long gaps does not, because the deterioration between visits is what customers see. Fitting rooms, counters, glass and restrooms round out what customers actually notice. We clean retail before opening in most cases. That way the store is presentable from the first customer rather than being cleaned around them, and nobody is working a mop through a sales floor while someone is trying to shop. For stores with hard floors that have gone past cleaning, stripping and refinishing is a separate job and usually the right one. Mopping a floor whose finish has worn through makes it look worse, not better.
