Describe the floor as it is today
Take an overall photograph and closer views of damaged or stained areas. If you know what was applied previously, keep the product name or installation paperwork. Tell us whether the garage is used mainly for parking, storage or a workshop, and mention any area that regularly becomes wet.
Avoid covering an existing problem just to make the floor look ready for an estimate. Its current condition is part of the information needed to discuss the job.
Existing paint and oil need a preparation decision
Sherwin-Williams' garage floor preparation guidance calls for removing loose paint and contaminants and checking compatibility where a previous coating remains. Ask what preparation is proposed for your particular slab and how uncertain conditions will be handled.
Bring up cracks, patched areas and the joint where the garage meets the driveway. Ask which repairs are included, which joints remain visible and where the new finish will stop. A product name alone does not answer those scope questions.
Choose a surface you can live with
Ask to review the color and texture together. Discuss cleaning tools, any tendency for water to collect, and the activities the garage needs to support. Request the selected manufacturer's care instructions before deciding how the floor will be maintained.

Separate installation time from parking time
Ask when the garage needs to be emptied, when foot access is allowed and when vehicles or heavy storage can return. Get those instructions for the system actually proposed and the conditions at installation. Do not plan a move-back date from a photograph or a generic coating advertisement.
Before scheduling, agree who moves shelving, tools and stored belongings. Identify any equipment that cannot be moved and ask how it affects the work boundary.
